In this interview, Keith Rowan discusses the relationship between PepsiCo, Inc. and its subsidiary, the Empire State Sugar Company. Topics include: the reasons why PepsiCo sought to establish a sugar beet refinery in Montezuma, N.Y.; PepsiCo's management of public relations at Empire State Sugar; and his impressions of Thomas Elmezzi and Jack Klett and of why Mark Barrett and Jay Swenson were fired from their positions with the agricultural Department at Empire Sugar.
